Polish Word of the Day | Urlop

Vacation = urlop

Pronounced: oor-loh-p

Urlop is a word describing time taken away from your regular daily grind for some R&R. I am very excited that we're taking a little vacation this weekend. We will be visiting our good friends in cold, cold, COLD Alaska. Where I come from, in the North West corner of Poland, winters are pretty mild. We're lucky to get snow for Christmas, and are extra excited if it sticks for more than one day before turning into dirty, slushy mud.

I'm hoping to cook some delicious, belly warming stews, and eat fish straight out of the crystal clear Alaskan river. Hope my friends won't mind me taking over their kitchen.
